Save a Life from Malaria Project
23/08/2020
In Angola malaria kills average over 10,000 people every year. Most of these people are children under 5 years old and pregnant woman. In addition of constant shortage on medication in the country, many people are not able to afford treatment.
The “Save a life from malaria project” is a social initiative that consists on donating medication to people with no financial means of acquiring medication when diagnosed. During this summer, Carlos Vasconcelos, Master in Molecular Medicine, had the initiative of raising funds to help families who cannot afford to buy anti malaria medicine.
The donations were collected on the website: https://www.gofundme.com/f/save-a-life-from-malaria-2020 and the target of £300.00 was reached. At this stage the money has already been sent to Angola and the right people are being processed to get the help they need.
To request donation for anyone you can send an email to genextar@gmail.com or a DM to @vasconcelos_cab on Instagram explaining why the person cannot afford the treatment. The project will be publishing on social media all the people we are going to help. At this stage a webpage will also be created to show the work.
Your solidarity makes the difference!
Save a Life final term 2020
First of all thank you for your support!
The project Save a Life aims to help people in Angola that have no means to pay for their medication due to poverty. We are glad that we could help support a couple of people in the past few weeks and we would like to continue saving more lives in the days to come. All of this success would not be possible if it were not for the dedicated team of collaborators in Angola and donors in the UK. The SAVE A LIFE project, will continue next year. These first few months have been a challenge for us however it paid off. We have been able to elaborate more and better our work.
We have launched our website (www.savealifeafrica.com) as well as a blog to expand our project and reach more people and potential donors. By the end of this year, we will have assisted three people, two of those with long term diseases like Mr João (tuberculoses) and little Rossano (autism). Fortunately, they all had the chance to have access to medical care are slowly recovering. Videos of the work done can be found on instagram @vasconcelos_cab or on YouTube channel genextar. As we are coming nearing the end of 2020, we plan to make our last donations by Christmas time and we also plan to produce an epic documentary that follows our journey with this project.
The documentary is scheduled to premier on December 27th. We hope you all will receive all the love and positivity we put on this project. Lastly we wish all our collaborators, donors, and friends, a very happy holidays. You are part of an important group of people devoted in helping those in need.
